No Place Like Home
Our last day in Savannah we decided to go to the outlet mall. But first I wanted to check out a thrift store I had seen us pass a few times. Sort of like a Big Lots, it had a variety of goods. Some used and mostly new in packaging that was not in good shape. We found a few bargains and took advantage of the markdowns. The people were friendly and invited us to play bingo that evening. Looked like they expected a crowd with about six long tables covered in holiday cloths and some chairs that looked really comfy. Not the standard metal folding chairs one would expect. We did not find out, as we decided not to go. Neither of us are good at driving at night, most especially on unfamiliar roads.
Most outlet malls I see now are deserted. This one was thriving. It covered a good bit of territory to walk, and the walkways were nice and wide. Landscaped with trees and benches set at intervals for just sitting and enjoying the day. There was a splashpad for kids at the entrance and a playground in the middle. Plenty of places for food, even a Krispy Kreme!
My back started bothering me as we walked. You know, the sudden catch that will make you stop to breathe. I finally had to sit down before we headed back to our ride. My date bought an ice cream cone for me, and we finished our snack, then made our way slowly to where we had parked.
The next day we drove back home. I decided to just lay down with the dogs for the long drive home. Every time I would try to sit, my back would grab me. It was approaching dusk as we made our way up the road to our home. I saw a few flakes of snow as I helped unload the basic necessities like our medications and perishables.
The dogs were happy to be home and have their collars removed to run leash free in their yard. Dora was happy to be placed in her big habitat with all of her places to hide and climb. Toni Louise was positioned behind her beloved master and recognized the road to home and barked happily until she was set free. No place like home, right?
Now Christmas Day is here. Let the cooking begin! Merry Christmas to all ....... I hope Santa visited you!
Welcome back. I hope you have a good Christmas, too.
