Easter Greetings

Happy Easter, everyone. It has been a lovely day here. High 60's, low 70's. Not too hot, not too cold, but just right. Like I am the Goldilocks of weather.

We went to church this morning and I needed black shoes to match my dress. The only pair I could locate was the black high heels (actually not very high) that I wore to my son's wedding. They were so comfortable that I wore them all day of the wedding and again when we went out that evening to eat. There was dancing involved and the shoes were fine. No, HeWho did not escort me to the dance floor, but my son did for one dance, then my daughter-in-law pulled me out there. All this to say the shoes were comfy ......

Of course I was not recovering from a bout of gout then. It is like me feet have betrayed me! The sick foot is still apt to swell and it did, while the big toe throbbed. My other foot which is supposed to be well, must be tired of supporting me because I have developed a corn on the ball of that foot up near the toes and another one under my second toe. Both feet are protesting loudly. By the way, a bit of trivia for you. Did you know that the big toe has the longest nerve in your body? Also, in medical circles, it is referred to as the great toe. Tuck this knowledge away for trivia night.

I am feeling much better since the sun is shining and every day shows up with more green sprouts to look at. My tulips are blooming and my peonies are reaching up out of the ground from their hibernation. The grape vine I planted last year is starting to show some tiny leaves. Mowing has begun again and the mower and I are one.

After dinner today, I asked HeWho how he felt about blowing leaves. The wind was down and it was so nice out. He needs to walk, so I sent him up to my gardens on the embankment. He would prefer to ride the mower and blow from a sitting position, but I have forbidden the mower up there. He tends to run over things that I don't want flattened.

While he was busy with the blower, I planted vegetables. I already have some shoots of green beans and wax beans. Eggplants are coming up, as well as cucumbers. Potatoes and onions are sown. The strawberry plants from last year have spread and are blooming. I planted okra and mammouth sunflowers together close to the fence so they can support each other. Green peas and black beans went in today along with yellow squash and acorn squash.

One of the Easter lilies from the service this morning was offered to me and I took it. Already in the ground with a good drink of water. I have had a busy day and now Eddie is shunning me! Used to sitting next to me all day, he is not happy that I am up and outside. He made the big mistake of venturing into my garden bed and I sprayed him with the hose. He is now sitting on the floor with his back to me. Doxies are like cats, they can hold a grudge.

Still having trouble downloading pictures .....

    1. Well one of my feet was comfy, the gouty one, not so much! We went to a very tiny church, bet there weren't 20 people including us and they were all so nice and welcoming. I am looking for a buddy for HeWho .... Seemed to give him some impetus to get outside and piddle in the yard!

    1. It was a glorious day! We went to a little cafe for lunch. The special was ham, of course, but I was afraid to eat smoked meat after the gout attack. I got a cold salad plate and enjoyed it a lot.

  3. You'll have to get some more comfortable church shoes. Your garden is doing well by the sounds of it.

    1. I have other shoes, but couldn't locate them. I think they might be in the RV. That happens a lot, I forget some things when unloading.

  4. Glad you had a decent weather day for Easter, rained sideways most of the day here in Tucson, what's up with that, this is the desert??

  5. BLOGGER gobbled up my original comment like it was a fine Easter feast! I think what I said was that I know about the Great Toe, but not about the nerve. And that you could say poor Eddie was getting on your "longest nerve" by invading your garden.

    1. Up and about feels good, still sore and I have to watch my steps so I don't hit that toe. There is something about the smell of freshly dug earth that just makes me happy!
