Happier?

After the torrential downpour, I decided to check on my tiny garden on the far side of the carport.

I think it is safe to say that the peace lily liked the water. It is full of buds still waiting to bloom. I have never had this many blooms on this plant.

Above it is the fern I hung in the tree. I got the fern at Walmart for $7, half price, because it looked a little limp. It has almost doubled in size.

Another lily I have had for years. It produced one sad flower every season.

There are 6 on it now. I think it is happier here on the mountain!

Maybe I am happier here on the side of the mountain and all my plants and animals sense this.

  1. All of the above. Glad you had a good, good rain.

  2. I've tried to grow calla lilies but they don't like our heat. And I don't think that's a peace lily. Peace lily is aspidistra. I googled that and the flowers are more like calla lilies except the one petal doesn't wrap around. Then I did an image search with your picture. I think it's a crinum moorei album also called natal lily.

    1. At least I got the lily part right! I think someone told me it was a peace lily and I never did any research. I tried some calla lilies in the ground and they did not grow. I have always had these in big pots and take them in every winter. I bought a canna lily last week, supposed to be a perrienial in this zone. We shall see.

  3. Looks like you are living in a lush jungle! Without the howler monkeys.

  4. The top plant is beautiful but didn't look like a peace lily to me. My app says it is an Amazon lily aka Eucharis amaazonica. Your plants seem to be thriving in their new environment. I am amazed at how rapidly you have put everything together. I too moved a few months before you did to a brand new place in a brand new state but the critters have decimated most of my yard planting efforts. Things on my deck though are doing well. We have woodchucks, rabbits, weasels and probably river rats (although I have never seen them). The woodchucks stretch out and bask in my driveway. Only the chipmunks and squirrels come up on the deck so far.

    1. I think it was the person who gave it to me aid it was a peace lily. I do know it prefers mostly shade. That was hard to achieve in the campground. I kept it on the porch. Easier here to put it under the trees. We have been visited by bears and feral cats so far. I see lots of rabbits and not so many squirrels. Deer tracks in the woods around the She Shed. I employed a net over my vegetables as I saw a lot of my plants have been nibbled on. River rats? Yuk!
