No More Cats, Please

Cujo here. It has been some time since I posted. Many things have happened since then. Something always seems to be happening here on the mountain side. Some things never change. Every single day, Mom gets up first to let us dogs out for our morning ritual and HeWho is our Dad sleeps in. Toni Louise always chooses to go back to bed until HeWho sleeps a lot awakens.

Today is an early day for HeWho is our Dad. The long awaited carport is being installed. This means there are strangers in our yard. Us dogs are not fond of strangers. Mr. BoJangles sits atop the back of the couch peering out the window with a constant low growl in his throat. Eddie and I barked when they got here, but I heard Mom say they would be here most of the day, so we decided to not look at them. If I don't see them .... they aren't here.

About that couch I mentioned. There are two of them. They came some time ago and I was at Mom's side as she put the pieces together. I watched her every move and the first one was together in no time. HeWho is our Dad had told her he would put the couches together as soon as he was done with something. I wasn't really listening to him, just knew that he would be absent and that was okay with me!

When Mom got to the second couch there were pieces missing. She called the number on the paperwork and got a very rude person. Dad came in and started asking here if maybe she was putting it together wrong. He should learn from experience not to ask silly questions. I do admit it was fun watching them argue, Mom won, by the way. The parts finally came, and we are sitting on one of the couches now.

Mom had some blankets and covers on the couches. She told me I have a tendency to slobber in my sleep! How very rude of her to point this out! She does not want MY slobber adorning the cushions! She also mentioned that us dogs sometimes come in with wet feet and jump on the couches. She is also opposed to footprints. To make her point she showed us all the old couch. I must admit that it was rather splotchy.

Her new couch covers came and she put them on the couches and was so happy with them. Until two days ago. Bo got sick and he yakked on the new couch cover!! He yakked on the cover on the ottoman, too. There was a lot of yak for such a little dog! Mom had to take the covers off and she took them outside. HeWho is our Dad wanted to just throw them in the washer!

Mom did not say a word to him, just shook the yak into the yard. Sometimes I wonder about him! Other things are happening. Mom mowed our dog yard for the first time. It didn't take nearly as much time as our old yard, and it was quieter! The new mower doesn't make a lot of noise. Mom likes the way it looks, she called it cute. I wouldn't go so far as to say that, us dogs are cute, not mowers!

Yesterday Mom was outside, and she called HeWho was filling our water dish to ask if Martha, the boy cat, was inside. She saw a cat that looked like Martha's skinny twin coming down our drive. She told dad she called out to the cat and it ran away. Please, someone tell me she is not going to bring this skinny cat in here to live with us!

    1. Mom seems to be enchanted with my breed! She calls me stubborn, but she also forgives all my faults and showers me with kisses. She calls it smoochie time.

  3. You are right to leave Bo in charge of the new carport guys. It will keep him busy and not underfoot right up until they leave

    1. Bo finally tired of the men and fell asleep on the back of the couch. He is still quite young and needs lots of sleep!

  4. I agree you probably don't need another cat, but you know there's no arguing with your mum. If that skinny cat becomes her friend you are just going to have to accept it.
I hope the carport is done by now.

    1. Well, a good sign is that Mom did not chase the cat. I heard her tell Martha to steer clear of this cat. Mom says it is feral and she does not want Martha hurt in a fight. I was more worried about the other cat! Martha is a big boy; he is bigger than any of us dogs!

  5. I've been very busy lately and haven't kept up with you and your mom as I should. I'm so glad to see that you're back also telling us what's going on with you and your family. Your mom is a smart woman, I admire her very much. And you are a very smart doggy, no wonder mom loves to shower you with smoochies. Have a wonderful bow wow of a day!
