Martha, The Boy Cat

 

Here we find Martha, the boy cat busy cleaning his puppy, Mr. BoJangles. Martha is blissfully unaware of his gender or species. He has taken on Bo as his offspring since the day he came to live with us. Unlike the dogs, he held no jealousy for the new family member, instead embracing his new role of "motherhood".

Martha takes his duties quite seriously. He cleans his charge at every opportunity. Lest you think otherwise, Bo is quite content with Martha's ministering to his cleanliness. See that little eye booger? Martha will soon flip Bo over and take care of it, as well.



Having finished, he pushes Bo away. 

Time for a nap. Bo is still under Martha's arms, sleeping. Martha has the contented look of a mother cat after she feed her kittens and they are all sleeping.

    It is a joy watching household pets groom each other. My Toby cat lost his buddy who licked his ears incessantly. That was all he wanted from then on, a new cat to lick his ears. Hasn't happened.

      Bo likes to groom Cujo, and Cujo sometimes likes it and will allow it, depending on his mood. Eddie grooms himself and sometimes Cujo will try to help. None of them groom as thoroughly as Martha does, though!

    Bo's face definitely looks well-groomed in that third photo! It appears that he also got a shoulder massage.

      You might be right about that. The claws come out when Martha has tired of his duties and wants Bo to move along.

    Martha’s markings are just right - his grey fur and tiny white bib set off his black ‘necklace’ perfectly. He looks pleasantly plump and comfortably content!

      A little too pleasantly plump! He is heavy! When being picked up, Martha will go limp like a toddler not happy with the world!

      They are! Martha will occasionally groom Eddie, as he did when Eddie was a puppy. Eddie tolerates it, but you can see he is just not into it. Bo loves his cat! He has always preferred Martha's company over the dogs. Martha will play with him endlessly.

    Aww, I'm sure Bo felt quite loved during that grooming. I imagine it was very relaxing, probably for both of them!

  While awaiting the newest stove delivery I have been working in my She Shed, but the last several days have been overcast, damp and chilly. This has kept me inside.   Let's see if I did this right! Hopefully I will be able to add some pictures. Only one way to find out .... This is where it all started. On a rainy day in October, 2021. The first view of the rest of our lives. Here he is, the love of my life pondering this property he had proclaimed to be over our budget.  Here is the front view. The drizzling rain makes the house look like it needs a good power wash. Not to worry, we have one. While I am not a big fan of the screen door entry, this can be changed. This is the view that convinced HeWho proclaimed this property to be over the budget I had set to make an offer that very day. You can't see it from this picture, but a trout stream with rushing water hides down below. I will eventually get a good shot when I finally start to make some steps down to the water. The Half Tooth Lingering In My Mouth

  Yesterday was almost bearable with the tooth pain. I took aspirin, tylenol and ibuprophen, rotating them. Went to bed and finally turned the TV off at 11:30. The searing pain woke me at 4:30 am and I have yet to find relief. How much Orajel is too much to ingest? Should I be worried? It doesn't help much, but gives a brief respite. My appointment was today. I arrived with time to spare and had the X-rays done and then the dentist came in, asking about the left side of my mouth. The broken tooth is on the right side. The last root canal and crown I had done is infected!! He said it looked like it never completely healed and this was done over 2 years ago. Having established that, he took a peek at the broken tooth and said it would need to be handled by the oral surgeon. Okay, I already knew that. I used my finger to trace the area in acute pain.
